Section 608 of the Federal Clean Air Act requires that all persons who maintain, service, repair or dispose of appliances must be certified by November  14, 1994.
Failure to comply can cost you and/or your company as much as $27,500 per day, per violation.
EPA also offers a reward up to $10,000 to a person providing information concerning violations of the act. The law requires the test to be a closed book proctored exam.
The NCi certification for Type I, Type II, Type III or Universal will depend upon passage of the exam administered by NCi.
Technicians need to pass the general knowledge (Core) section before any type of certification may be obtained. A 70% passing grade (18 out of 25 correct answers) is needed for each section or type. Technicians passing all sections will be issued a Universal Certification.
If a technician fails any section of the test, he/she may retake only the failed sections.
The average time for a technician to complete the test is 15 to 20 minutes per section.
NCi will issue a Certificate Diploma and a wallet size identification card to technicians that  pass the exam.
Part of the training program from NCi includes booklets and other preparation materials.
The preparation materials are not intended to cover every aspect of the certification exam or to be a formal training refrigeration manual in any way. Preparation materials are intended to aid an already knowledgeable technician to refresh his/hers memory. NCi will not assume any liability connected with information or misinformation provided on preparation materials.
Preparation materials are not required to take the exam, however they are strongly recommended.
Preparation materials are property of NCi and protected by Copy Right laws. Exams are conducted in all States & Territories including: Hawaii, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. Exams are offered in English and Español, for other language contact NCi.Price & Description
